Association Sponsored Training
The Southwest Virginia Firefighters Association works with the Virginia Department of Fire Programs to help get sponsored training in Southwest Virginia.
Discounted Insurance Rates Through VFIS Insurance
Through the Southwest Virginia Firefighters Association members of your department are eligible for a discounted rate on $50,000 of life insurance .
The insurance premium can be paid for by the member or by the member department.
Strong Legislative Voice
The association has a strong voice and representation in the Virginia Legislative system. The association is stakeholders in several organizations within the Virginia Fire Service.
Educational Partnerships
The association has a scholarship program for its members and their family members. These scholarships are awarded at the Annual Convention at the Awards Banquet. These scholarships ae made possible by our convention sponsors and donations.
The association has also partnered with Columbia Southern University to offer a discount on tuition rates.
Networking and Information Sharing
Networking and information sharing is a valuable part of the fire service. By communicating with other members, the fire service is stronger and a better provider for the communities we serve.
The membership is encouraged to share information, tips, training, and events with others.
